This study stems from the question of how the Supreme Being is represented in Nightmares and Daydreams Episode 04, directed by Joko Anwar, through the lens of Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis. By examining denotative and connotative meanings, this research analyzes eight scenes from the episode. Each scene is studied to identify its visual and narrative elements using the mise en scène approach to explore the relationship between signifier and signified, ultimately uncovering the myths embedded in each sequence. Data collection was carried out by observing and watching Joko Anwar’s Nightmares and Daydreams series, followed by documenting scenes relevant to the research focus. The analysis reveals that the Supreme Being is implicitly manifested through miracles, trials, and luminous beings as conveyors of transcendent truth. While referencing the theistic concept of divinity in Islam, the Supreme Being in this episode appears as a plural and unnamed entity, yet its symbolism still aligns with prophetic and divine elements within Islamic thought. Thus, the representation of the Supreme Being in this episode also reflects the socio-spiritual reality of society. Keywords : Supreme Being, Roland Barthes’ Semiotics, Representation
