HUBUNGAN KELIMPAHAN FITOPLANKTON DENGAN ZOOPLANKTON DI PERAIRAN MUARA BANYUASIN, PROVINSI SUMATERA SELATAN
The Banyuasin Estuary is a dynamic estuarine ecosystem influenced by inputs from the Musi River and its tributaries, as well as anthropogenic activities such as agriculture and the fisheries industry. The observed physico-chemical parameters include salinity, pH, temperature, dissolved oxygen (DO), current velocity, nitrate, and phosphate. Observations indicated that most parameters remained within standard limits, although nitrate and phosphate concentrations at several stations exceeded the thresholds. The phytoplankton community structure consisted of 22 genera, predominantly from the phylum Ochrophyta (63%), with the highest abundance recorded at station 2 (184 cells/L). Meanwhile, the zooplankton community was dominated by Nauplius (67%), with the highest abundance observed at station 9 (125 ind/L). Principal Component Analysis (PCA) identified pH, nitrate, phosphate, temperature, and current velocity as influential factors affecting plankton abundance. The correlation between phytoplankton and zooplankton abundance showed a very weak negative relationship (-0.004), indicating a weak inverse abundance pattern between the two communities.
