STUDI POLA PERTUMBUHAN KEPITING BAKAU (SCYLLA SPP.) DARI HABITAT ALAM DAN HASIL BUDIDAYA SILVOFISHERY KEPITING BAKAU DI DAERAH REHABILITASI MANGROVE DESA MARGA SUNGSANG, KABUPATEN BANYUASIN, SUMATERA SELATAN
This study examines the growth patterns of mud crabs (Scylla spp.) from natural habitats and silvofishery-based cultivation systems in Marga Sungsang Village, Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra. The research aimed to compare crab growth based on location, species, and sex, as well as to analyze the influence of aquatic environmental parameters. Observed parameters included temperature, salinity, pH, dissolved oxygen (DO), nitrate, phosphate, and sediment texture. Results showed that male Scylla paramamosain had the highest absolute weight gain (216.50 g), while female Scylla tranquebarica had the greatest carapace width growth (3.09 cm). Growth patterns were predominantly negatively allometric, with carapace width increasing more than body weight. Environmental parameters were within optimal ranges, and sandy loam substrate was suitable for crab habitats. These findings indicate that the silvofishery system effectively supports sustainable mud crab growth and offers an eco-friendly alternative for mangrove conservation and fisheries development.
