PENGARUH VARIASI SUHU DAN WAKTU PENCELUPAN KAIN KATUN MENGGUNAKAN PEWARNA ALAMI KULIT PISANG KEPOK (Musa Paradisiaca Var. Balbisiana colla) DAN SUMBANGANNYA PADA PEMBELAJARAN BIOLOGI
Synthetic dyes used in the fabric dyeing process have adverse effects on the environment and human health due to the presence of harmful and non-biodegradable chemical substances. One alternative to minimize these impacts is the use of natural dyes in the dyeing process. This study aims to determine the color variation of the fabric, its similarity to synthetic-dyed fabric, and the color evenness resulting from the influence of temperature and immersion time variations in dyeing cotton fabric using natural dye extracted from kepok banana peel (Musa paradisiaca var. Balbisiana Colla). The method used in this research is experimental, consisting of four dyeing stages: scouring, mordanting, extraction, and dyeing. The dyeing process was carried out with variations in temperature (50°C, 60°C, and 70°C) and time (15, 25, and 35 minutes). Color identification was assisted by the Colorblind Assistant application. The similarity of the fabric color to synthetic-dyed fabric and its color evenness were assessed through organoleptic tests. The results showed variations in color, similarity to synthetic fabric, and color evenness across the nine samples. Based on the identification using the Colorblind Assistant application, four types of colors were identified: muddy waters brown, calm shell pink, warm brown, and dark salmon pink. Sample A3B2 was the most similar to the synthetic fabric color, followed by sample A2B1. The best color evenness was found in sample A3B3. Variations in temperature and immersion time influenced the color variation, similarity to synthetic fabric, and color evenness. Sample A2B1, with a temperature of 60°C and immersion time of 15 minutes, produced the best results in terms of color, similarity to synthetic fabric, and color evenness.
