PERBEDAAN NILAI TNF-α, IMT DAN LINGKAR PINGGANG PADA KELOMPOK NORMAL DAN PREDIABETES DARI KELUARGA TINGKAT PERTAMA DIABETES MELITUS TIPE 2
Background : Prediabetes is an intermediate condition with a high risk of progressing to type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). First-degree relatives of individuals with T2DM possess significant genetic and environmental susceptibility. Early detection using inflammatory biomarkers such as TNF-α, along with anthropometric parameters like body mass index (BMI) and waist circumference, is essential for screening at-risk populations. Methods : This cross-sectional study included 68 subjects who were first-degree relatives of T2DM patients in Palembang. Data were collected through interviews, anthropometric measurements (BMI and waist circumference), and TNF-α levels assessed by ELISA. Data analysis was performed using independent t-test, Mann-Whitney U test, and ROC curve analysis. Results : Significant differences were found between normal and prediabetic groups in TNF-α levels (p = 0.000), BMI (p = 0.013), and waist circumference (p = 0.017). The cut-off values identified were 74.99 pg/mL for TNF-α, 29.05 kg/m² for BMI, and 89 cm for waist circumference. Conclusion : TNF-α, BMI, and waist circumference differed significantly between normoglycemic and prediabetic individuals. The cut-off values obtained may serve as potential markers for early screening of prediabetes among first-degree relatives of T2DM patients.
