PENGARUH FEAR OF MISSING OUT (FOMO) DI MEDIA SOSIAL TERHADAP PERILAKU KONSUMTIF MAHASISWA PROGRAM STUDI PENDIDIKAN EKONOMI UNIVERSITAS SRIWIJAYA
This study aims to prove the influence of fear of missing out (FOMO) on social media on consumptive behavior of students of Economics Education study program, Sriwijaya University. The research method used is quantitative research with an associative approach. The population of this study is students of the Economics Education study program at Sriwijaya University class of 2021-2022 who have a fear of missing out (FOMO) and consumptive behavior totaling 162 students. The research sample amounted to 62 students using purposive sampling tecniques. The data collection techniques used are questionnaires, interviews and documentation. The hypothesis test was carried out using the pearson product moment correlation test which showed a positive correlation between the fear of missing out (FOMO) variable on social media in influencing the consumtive behavior variable with a value of 0.55356 then the determinant coefficient test which showed that the fear of missing out (FOMO) variable in social media affected the consumptive behavior variable by 30.63% and the t-test which obtained the result that, t_count 5.1486 ≥ t_table 2.0000, so it can be concluded that Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted, which means on the consumptive behavior of students of the Economics Educations study program , Sriwijaya University. It is recommended that students deepen the basic conceps of fear of missing out and consumptive behavior so that they are able to be more critical and controlled in spending and can early distinguish between purchases based on basic needs and desires.
