PT Multi Service Mining is one of PT Gorby Energy's contractors in the coal mining sector located in North Musi Rawas Regency, South Sumatra Province, which uses the strip mining method in coal mining activities. In calculating the volume of overburden, two methods are used, namely joint survey and truck count. Joint survey is a data collection method in the mining industry used in creating topographic maps of mining areas both before and after mining activities are completed. In addition to using the joint survey method, the results of the truck count can be used to calculate the volume. Truck count is a volume calculation based on the results of multiplying the number of trips by the capacity of the transport vessel recorded by the production recorder (checker) through a timesheet that will later be processed by the engineering team. The purpose of this study is to technically review the measurement data from the survey with the data from the truck count results, determine the factors that cause discrepancies in the volume of overburden between the survey data and the results of the truck count and provide efforts to minimize the difference in overburden volume between the results of the survey and the truck count. From the results of observations and research conducted, the overburden volume in March 2025 based on a joint survey was 183,956.521 BCM and the truck count was 174,635 BCM. The overburden volume ratio was 4.52%. This was caused by several factors, namely non-compliance with truck factor standards, the presence of untransported material, loading the load on the transport vehicle, human errors, and environmental conditions.
