This student apartment is designed as a solution to the need for housing that supports the holistic well-being of students in Medan City. Existing housing options generally serve only as places to live, lacking consideration for comfort, health, and the social and academic aspects of student life. Through a biophilic design approach, this apartment integrates natural elements such as natural lighting, cross ventilation, and greenery in the form of vertical gardens and green balconies. These features aim to create a cooler, more comfortable environment and help reduce stress caused by academic pressures. Supporting facilities such as study rooms, cafeterias, minimarkets, sports areas, and communal spaces are provided to encourage social interaction and support academic productivity. Located within an educational zone, the apartment is planned to reduce students’ interaction with the city’s congestion in fulfilling their daily needs. The spatial layout is arranged systematically with clear transitional spaces to facilitate orientation and mobility. The presence of shared open spaces and visual connections to natural elements is expected to foster a sense of comfort, security, and attachment to the environment. With a comprehensive biophilic approach, the apartment offers a healthy and conducive living space for students’ academic and social life.
