PERENCANAAN DAN PERANCANGAN PUSAT SENI PERTUNJUKAN DI KOTA PALEMBANG
Palembang City holds a rich cultural heritage and great potential in the field of performing arts, ranging from traditional art forms such as dance, Tembang Batanghari Sembilan, to Dulmuluk theater. However, the city currently lacks an integrated facility capable of accommodating performances at both local and national scales in a representative manner. Therefore, this final project proposes the planning and design of a Performing Arts Center in Palembang as a response to the need for a proper, adaptive, and sustainable space for the arts. The design approach employs waterfront architecture, utilizing the site’s potential along the Musi River to establish a harmonious relationship between the building, its users, and the water element. Additionally, an acoustic architectural approach is applied to enhance the performance of key spaces such as an auditorium with a capacity of 500–800 people, a music studio, and rehearsal rooms, all designed to meet acoustic standards, comfort, and flexibility for various artistic activities. The methods used include literature studies, site observation, space requirement analysis, precedent studies, and design concept development. The final design reflects an integration of functionality, cultural context, acoustic performance, and the creation of inclusive public spaces for both the art community and the wider public.
