PERENCANAAN DAN PERANCANGAN SEKOLAH LUAR BIASA KHUSUS TUNAGRAHITA DIPALEMBANG
Children with intellectual disabilities are individuals who experience impairments in intellectual functioning, which affect their ability to learn, communica, socialize and manage daily life independently. This condition requires an educational approach and learning environment tailored to their specific needs and abilities. The design of this special school for children with intellectual disabilities was carried out using a qualitative approach through literature studies, user needs analysis and reference to relevant regulations and special education design standards. The main design principles include spatial organization, ease of accessibility, and the integration of visual, sensory, and supportive facilities to foster student independence. The result is a responsive design that addresses the unique characteristics and needs of students with intellectual disabilities, thereby creating a learning environment that supports their cognitive, emotional and social development. This design is expected to serve as a model for inclusive and adaptive educational facility planning that respects the diversity of its learners.
