Songket and jumputan fabrics are cultural heritages of Palembang with high cultural value and economic potential. These traditional textiles have attracted many tourists beyond Palembang. However, their existence is not yet supported by facilities that optimally combine trade and tourism functions. This final project designs a Special Tourism Market for Songket and Jumputan using a tropical architecture approach, serving as an interactive space for commerce, education, and cultural recreation. It integrates shopping and cultural tourism through the concept of “Something to Buy, Something to See, Something to Do,” realized in facilities such as kiosks, interactive spaces, and exhibitions. Tropical architectural principles are applied to create spaces that are comfortable and responsive to Palembang’s climate. This project aims to become a place for cultural preservation as well as an attractive, memorable, locally rich, and contextual tourism destination.
