Smoking is a common habit among adolescents and is one of major causes of chronic diseases. The lack of knowledge about the dangers of smoking among adolescents underscores the need for effective health promotion efforts. This study aims to compare the use of video and leaflet media to increase adolescents' knowledge of the dangers of smoking. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a two-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 38 respondents divided into two intervention groups: video and leaflet media. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using paired t-tests and independent t-tests using SPSS. Both groups showed a significant increase in their knowledge after the intervention (p-value = 0.000). The average knowledge score in the video group increased from 10.37 to 13.68 and in the leaflet group from 10.42 to 12.84. However, the independent t-test showed no significant difference between the two intervention media (p-value = 0.201). The video media showed an average increase in score of 3.31, while the leaflet group increased by 2.42. Although the increase in the video group was higher, the difference was not statistically significant. Both media have been shown to be effective in increasing adolescents' knowledge about the dangers of smoking. Video media tends to be more interactive and engaging because it incorporates visual and audio elements, making it easier for adolescents to understand. Meanwhile, leaflets are more practical and can be read repeatedly. Health workers are advised to choose educational media for its effectiveness, particularly based on available resources, time, and characteristics of target audiences.
