DIPLOMASI BUDAYA: INDONESIAN DAY PADA PROGRAM STUDENT EXCHANGE TO THAILAND OLEH SMA IT BINA ILMI 2019
Islamic Senior high school of Bina Ilmi Palembang held an independent student exchange consisting of ten students, in order to build people-to-people relations.¬as in the socio-cultural pillar of the ASEAN principle, while supporting the Indonesia EMAS 2045 policy by implementing one of the pillars of the policy vision, namely improving human resources. This student exchange coincided with Sangkhom Islam Wittaya School, Sadao, Thailand. It lasted for ten days, namely from February 10, 2019 to February 20, 2019. Indonesian day was held on the date as a party day for Indonesian people who were doing student exchanges, KKN and internships at the school. Indonesian day is a place for Indonesian people to carry out cultural diplomacy with art performances, opening culinary booths and language exchange classes with the target audience being students of Sangkhom Islam Wittaya School. This study aims to determine how cultural diplomacy is implemented in Indonesian day on the student exchange program to Thailand by SMA IT Bina Ilmi 2019. This study uses the theory of cultural diplomacy from Gienow-Hecht, Jessica CE, and Mark C. Donfried in their book "searching for a cultural diplomacy" which states that there are four main instruments of cultural diplomacy, namely, actors, agendas, tools and target audiences. Produces an explanatory presentation regarding Indonesian Day activities based on the four instruments contained in the book.
