PENGARUH PEMBERIAN EKSTRAK BUAH JERUK LEMON LOKAL (Citrus Limon (L.) Burm.F.) SEBAGAI ACIDIFIER PADA AIR MINUM TERHADAP PERFORMA AYAM KAMPUNG UNGGUL BALITNAK (KUB)
The limitations of the productivity level of local chickens pose a unique challenge in meeting the demand for poultry products. An alternative solution that is considered potentially applicable to local chickens is the use of local lemon extract as an acidifier. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of adding local lemon extract to drinking water on the performance of local chickens. The research was conducted from October to January 2025 at the Poultry Experiment Farm of the Animal Husbandry Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. This study used 80 KUB chickens aged 12 weeks. This research consists of 5 treatments with 4 repetitions for each treatment. The treatments given are P0 (drinking water without treatment), P1 (drinking water + local lemon extract with pH 2), P2 (drinking water + local lemon extract with pH 2.5), P3 (drinking water + local lemon extract with pH 3), and P4 (drinking water + local lemon extract with pH 3.5). The results of the study indicate that the addition of local lemon extract to drinking water has no significant effect (P≥0.05) on feed consumption, body weight gain, and feed conversion in KUB chickens. The feed consumption ranged from 356.88 - 369.41 grams per head per week. The body weight gain ranged from 81.22 – 92.12 grams per head per week. The feed conversion ratio ranged from 3.90 – 4.40. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the addition of local lemon extract has not been able to affect the performance of KUB chickens.
