MUHAMMAD RIZKI ARDIANSYAH, Potential Accumulation Of Heavy Metals Cadmium (Cd) And Lead (Pb) In Broiler Chickens And Ducks In Swamp Land In Palembang City (Supervised by ASEP INDRA MUNAWAR ALI) Cadmium (Cd) and Lead (Pb) are heavy metals that are toxic to the body and are commonly found in swampy areas and waste dumps, which can also contaminate livestock such as Broiler Chickens and Ducks. The purpose of this study was to assess the Cd and Pb metal content in the liver, breast and feathers of broiler chickens and ducks and then compare the differences between livestock species and with the maximum limit of metal content. The study began in early May and ended in December 2024. Sampling was carried out in several places around Palembang, such as Sungki, Mariana, Lemabang, Sako and Gandus. The livestock used were 12 male broiler chickens and 12 female broiler chickens as well as 12 male and 12 female ducks. The study was conducted at the Sriwijaya University Experimental Pen and the analysis of Cd and Pb content was carried out at the Bogor Agricultural Institute Laboratory. Data analysis carried out in this study was using the t-test, to compare the accumulation of heavy metals in broiler chickens with heavy metals in ducks. This t-test was carried out using Ms Excel. The results of this study indicate that the Cd content ranged from undetectable to 0.39 ppm, while the Pb content ranged from undetectable to 0.52 ppm. The Cd and Pb content in broiler chicken meat and liver (0.05 and 0.10 ppm) and ducks (0.02 and 0.42 ppm) were not significantly different and were still below the maximum value set by the Indonesian National Standard (SNI, 0.5 ppm). However, the Cd in eleven duck liver samples was below the safe consumption limit and only one sample had a Cd content above the threshold set by SNI (0.42 ppm). Based on statistical tests, there were also differences in Pb levels in broiler chicken feathers (0.39 ppm) and ducks (0.52 ppm). Keywords: Broiler Chicken, Duck, Cadmium, Lead.
