Research has consistently shown that student well-being plays a crucial role in supporting academic achievement by helping students manage internal and external stressors. While many studies indicate a positive correlation between well-being and academic performance, some findings suggest that this relationship is not always linear or consistent. Therefore, further exploration is necessary to better understand the connection between student well-being and learning outcomes. This study aims to examine the relationship between student well-being and academic achievement by exploring factors that influence students' success in biology. It focuses on four dimensions of well-being: cognitive, psychological, physical, and social. A quantitative correlational approach was used to analyze data collected from 456 eleventh-grade students across three accredited “A” senior high schools. The results, analyzed using the Spearman Rank correlation test, revealed a very strong and significant relationship between student well-being and biology learning outcomes (ρ = 0.862), indicating that higher perceived well-being is associated with better academic performance. Based on Likert scale measurements, most students were in the moderate well-being category suggesting general satisfaction and motivation in learning, although their well-being was not yet optimal. Several external factors, such as students’ diverse cultural backgrounds and socioeconomic conditions, are suspected to hinder the achievement of optimal well-being. These findings highlight the importance of integrating well-being considerations into teaching strategies to enhance student academic outcomes.
