This study aims to evaluate the slope stability at Pit X, located within the open-pit mining area of PT Bukit Asam, Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatra. This location was previously used as a disposal area for mining waste material and has heterogeneous geotechnical characteristics that pose a potential risk of slope instability. The approach used in this study combines the Limit Equilibrium Method (LEM) to calculate the factor of safety (FoS) and the Dump Slope Rating (DSR) method to empirically assess the risk level. The data were obtained from field observations and laboratory testing of shear strength parameters. The analysis results show that section B–B’ has the lowest FoS value of 1.11 and a DSR score of 59, which is categorized as short-term stable, while section D–D’ has an FoS value of 3.36 and a DSR score of 64, indicating very stable conditions. The consistency of the results from both methods demonstrates that this combined approach is effective for assessing slope conditions and providing technical recommendations in complex geotechnical settings.
