ABSTRACT Water treatment plants play an important role in maintaining the quality of water used by local communities. As a place used for the production of clean water that will be used by the community, of course it does not only focus on the treatment process, but also needs to pay attention to environmental sanitation aspects in the installation work area. Good sanitation will produce good quality water, otherwise poor sanitation can cause and produce poor water quality. The purpose of this study was to determine the condition of basic environmental sanitation facilities at Borang Water Treatment Plant in Palembang City. This research is a qualitative descriptive research using primary and secondary data sources. Data collection methods by means of in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. The number of informants in this study was 5 people, consisting of 1 key informant (installation chief) and 4 ordinary informants (2 operators, 1 janitor, and 1 security officer). The data analysis carried out is in the form of data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing/verivication. This study used triangulation and member check methods as data validity. The results showed that the condition of basic environmental sanitation facilities at Borang IPA was available and quite good, starting from building facilities, garbage cans, hand washing stations, and toilets according to the Minister of Health Regulation No. 70 of 2016, but the SPAL facilities still did not have an adequate sewage treatment plant. It can be concluded that the condition of basic environmental sanitation facilities in IPA Borang has met the Minister of Health Regulation Number 70 of 2016, but some sanitation facilities still need to be improved and upgraded such as repairing rusty building facilities, providing waste treatment before discharging into rivers, and improving waste management systems.
