Perineal laceration is a tear in the area between the vagina and the anus that can occur spontaneously or due to an episiotomy during childbirth. This condition is frequently experienced by primigravida mothers. One effective way to prevent it is by doing Kegel exercises. However, many primigravida mothers lack of understanding of the benefits and techniques of Kegel exercises. This study aims to investigate the effect of health education using the Vitur Book media on primigravida mothers' knowledge in preventing perineal lacerations. The study used a quasi-experimental approach with a one-group pretest-posttest without control. The sample consisted of 30 primigravida mothers selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were collected through a Kegel exercise knowledge questionnaire at the pretest and posttest stages after the intervention using the Vitur Book. The results showed that before the intervention, 66.7% of respondents had poor knowledge and 33.3% had sufficient knowledge. After the intervention, 36.7% had good knowledge, 60.0% had sufficient knowledge, and only 3.3% had insufficient knowledge. Statistical testing using the Marginal Homogeneity showed a Z-value of -4.925 and a p-value of 0.000 (p ≤ 0.05), indicating a significant increase in knowledge. This study shows that the Vitur book media can improve the knowledge of primigravida mothers about Kegel exercises, as indicated by the increase in the average knowledge scores of respondents. Therefore, to improve mothers' knowledge in preventing perineal lacerations, they can apply the information obtained through concrete actions to prevent perineal lacerations after understanding the purpose, benefits, and techniques of Kegel exercises. Keywords: perineal laceration, educational media, health education, knowledge, Kegel exercises.
