PERANCANGAN PASAR TRADISIONAL TEPIAN AIR DI KERTAPATI, PALEMBANG
Traditional markets are a vital element in shaping the identity of Palembang City as the center of economic, social, and cultural activities of the surrounding community, one of which is the Kertapati Traditional Market. The market is strategically located on the banks of the Ogan River and adjacent to the Ogan Bridge, giving the market an identity that represents the historical relationship between the market and the river. However, the condition of the market building is old, poorly maintained, and closed, making the market empty of visitors. In addition, the face of the market is not oriented towards the riverbank and there is no public space available, causing a loss of identity on the water's edge. Therefore, it is necessary to redesign the market with the theme of waterfront architecture. This design will reopen the riverbank by taking into account the orientation of the building, climate, and riverbank ecosystem. The open building design with the presence of public open spaces and docks will revive the riverside area. In addition, the construction will take into account the tides and not damage the surrounding ecosystem. Thus, the design of the Kertapati Traditional Market can restore the character of the riverbank and increase the market's potential as a center of trade and socio-cultural activities of the community.
