The livestock sector in Indonesia has shown significant progress, especially in goat farming from year to year. This growth is utilized to meet the community’s demand for meat as one of the sources of animal protein. Blood profile is an important physiological parameter that can be used to assess the health status of livestock through blood analysis. The physiological condition of the body can be identified, including the possibility of health disorders. The purpose of this study was to determine the blood profile, including the number of erythrocytes, hemoglobin levels, hematocrit values, leukocytes, and platelets in castrated Etawa crossbred goats at Pak Handoko’s Goat Farm, Sindang Sari Village, Lempuing Subdistrict, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency, from October to December 2024. Data collection was conducted through field observation and paired sample t-test analysis to examine the effect of castration on erythrocyte count, hemoglobin, hematocrit, leukocytes, and platelets in Etawa crossbred goats.Blood samples were taken twice by inserting a syringe needle into the pectoral vein located in the neck over a period of two months. After treatment, the blood samples were observed for erythrocyte count, hemoglobin, hematocrit, leukocytes, and platelets. The results showed that the erythrocyte count, hemoglobin, hematocrit, leukocytes, and platelets collected from all treatment groups were within normal ranges. Statistical analysis indicated that the erythrocyte count, hemoglobin, hematocrit, leukocytes, and platelets after castration showed no significant differences (P > 0.05). The average values for erythrocytes, hemoglobin, hematocrit, leukocytes, and platelets were 2.8 (10⁶/µL), 9.4 (g/dL), 29.0 (%), 15.45 (10³/µL), and 25.0 (10³/µL), respectively (P > 0.05).In conclusion, castration does not affect the erythrocyte count, hemoglobin, hematocrit, leukocytes, and platelets in Etawa crossbred goats.
