PENGARUH PEMBERIAN VITAMIN D SEBAGAI SUPLEMENTASI PERAWATAN PERIODONTITIS KRONIS (SYSTEMATIC REVIEW)
Background: Individuals with chronic periodontitis disease have relatively lower vitamin D levels than healthy individuals. Several previous studies have shown that vitamin D can act as an additional therapy for the non-surgical treatment of periodontal disease. Vitamin D supplementation provides anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory effects, improving clinical outcomes in periodontitis disease through anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory effects. Objective: To determine the effect of vitamin D supplementation as an additional therapy for scaling root planing on the periodontal index in patients with chronic periodontitis. Methods: This research is a systematic literature review with quantitative analysis. The journal databases used are PubMed, Google Scholar, and Semantic Scholar. The literature used is in English with a time limit of the last 10 years. The journals obtained will be selected, then bias analysis and data extraction are carried out and followed by meta-analysis. Results: Quantitative analysis conducted on eight journals showed that vitamin D supplementation as an adjunctive therapy to scaling root planing treatment is effective improving periodontal indices, such as periodontal pocket depth and clinical attachment loss by having a major effect on the treatment of chronic periodontitis. Conclusion: scaling root planing treatment with additional vitamin D supplementation has an effect on healing patients with chronic periodontitis.
