Kampung Unggul Balitnak (KUB) chicken is a local breed developed by the Research Institute for Animal Husbandry (Balitnak) to enhance the productivity and quality of native chickens. This research aims to study the effect of administering a local lemon extract acidifier (Citrus Limon (L.) Burm f.) on the percentage of small intestinal weight in KUB chickens. The experiment was conducted over 12 weeks at the Poultry Experimental Cage and the Animal Nutrition and Feed Laboratory of the Animal Husbandry Study Program, Department of Livestock Technology and Industry, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. This study employed a completely randomized design with five treatments, each repeated four times. The treatments were P0 (drinking water without treatment, (control)), P1 (drinking water + local lemon extract at pH 2), P2 (drinking water + local lemon extract at pH 2.5), P3 (drinking water + local lemon extract at pH 3), and P4 (drinking water + local lemon extract at pH 3.5). Data were analyzed using ANOVA, and significant differences were further analyzed using Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The parameters observed included the percentage of small intestinal weight (duodenum, jejunum, and ileum). The results indicated that administering a local lemon extract acidifier (Citrus Limon (L.) Burm f.) had no significant effect (P>0.05) on the percentage of small intestinal weight in KUB chickens. The percentages of the small intestine obtained were 0.56-0.63% for the duodenum, 0.99-1.16% for the jejunum, and 0.82-0.93% for the ileum, relative to live weight. This study concludes that administering local lemon extract acidifiers in drinking water with with pH levels ranging from 2 to 3.5 does not increase the weight of the small intestine (duodenum, jejunum, and ileum) in KUB chickens.
