The presence of rice mills in rural areas can have a significant impact on the social, economic, and cultural conditions of the local community. Pegayut Village, Pemulutan District, Ogan Ilir Regency, has experienced social and economic changes since the establishment of the rice mill, particularly for farmers and laborers. The objectives this research are 1).o describe the socio-cultural changes experienced by rice farmers and laborers as a result of the presence of the rice mill in Pegayut Village. 2).To analyze the comparison of perceptions between rice farmers and laborers regarding the socio-cultural impact of the rice mill in Pegayut Village. 3).To analyze the economic changes (income and asset ownership) of farmers and laborers due to the presence of the rice mill in Pegayut Village. The results of the study indicate that the socio-economic and cultural impacts in Pegayut Village following the establishment of the rice mill include both positive and negative effects. The positive impacts include job creation, easier access to rice sales, and the introduction of technology in rice field management. However, the negative impacts include a decline in social interactions among both farmers and laborers due to reduced collective work practices, which has increased individualism, as well as an increase in dust, which slightly disturbs the community. The perception of rice farmers regarding the impact of the rice mill, measured by three criteria, falls within the moderate category with an average score of 21.06. Infrastructure development and cultural preservation fall under the high category, while social interaction falls under the low category. Meanwhile, the perception of laborers regarding the impact of the rice mill has a score of 21.20, which falls into the high category. Infrastructure development and cultural preservation are categorized as high, while social interaction is in the moderate category. The average monthly income of farmers is Rp3.133.221,65 while the average monthly income of rice mill laborers is Rp3.186.857,45. Statistically, there is no significant difference between the income of farmers and laborers. The asset ownership score for rice farmers is 18.83, while the asset ownership score for rice mill laborers is 17.85. Statistically, there is no significant difference in asset ownership between rice farmers and rice mill laborers, indicating that there is no significant difference in the standard of living between the two groups.
