Sweet corn is an agricultural product that is increasingly popular in Indonesia and the world. Corn consumed by Indonesian people is generally yelow corn and not yet purple corn. This research is part of a plant breeding program to develop purple corn varieties that have a high sweet taste and are preferred by consumers. The research began by crossing sweet corn varieties as female parents and purple corn as male parents. The F1 seeds from the cross wew planted together with their female parents in Randomized Block Design pattern in the research. Planting was carried out in a two-plants per hole system, each to produce baby corn and sweet corn while some plants were maintained to produce seeds. The results showed that F1 generation plants could grow and produce baby corn, sweet corn and F2 generation seeds well. The color of the seeds on the cobs was segregated into yellow, white and purple. Observation parameters included an avarage plant height of 271,71 cm, male and female flowers at the ages of 46 and 50 days. Bbay corn can be harvested at at 54 days, has an average fresh weight of 27.70 g/cob with a sugar content of 4.5% brix compared to its parent of 5.5% brix. Sweet corn can be harvested at 73 days, has an average fresh weight of 294.40 g/cob with a sugar content of 12.5% brix. Observation of sugar content, especially in purple sweet corn, produced a value of 7.5% brix, compared to its population value of 12.5% brix and its parent of 13.0% brix. The results of seed selection from 10 dry purple cobs produced 2.739 which were segregated into 4 forms, namely dent, flint, other forms and wrinkled. These wrinkled seeds are good genetic material for use in research on purple sweet corn variety development programs.
