SOHIROH. The Effect of Addition of Synbiotics from Pineapple Peel Fermentation and Indigofera zollingeriana Leaves in Rations on pH and Number of Bacteria in the Small Intestine of Broiler Chickens (Supervised by RIZKI PALUPI) Synbiotics are a combination of probiotics and prebiotics. Probiotics are single or mixed cultures of living non-pathogenic microorganisms, which when given in sufficient quantities provide health benefits to the digestive tract of broiler chickens. Synbiotics can affect the number of microflora in the small intestine by increasing the number of Lactobacillus bulgaricus bacteria. Research on the effect of adding synbiotics from fermented pineapple peel and Indigofera zollingeriana leaves in rations on pH and the number of bacteria in the small intestine of broiler chickens was conducted in the Poultry Cage, Department of Animal Husbandry Industrial Technology, Faculty of Agriculture and the Microbiology Laboratory of MIPA Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Sriwijaya University from October to December 2024. This research was arranged according to the Completely Randomized Design (CRD) method with five treatments consisting of basal rations without synbiotics (P0), basal rations with the addition of 0.5% synbiotics (P1), basal rations with the addition of 1% synbiotics (P2), basal rations with the addition of 1.5% synbiotics (P3), basal rations with the addition of 2% synbiotics (P4).The parameters observed were the pH value of the duodenal digesta of the small intestine of broiler chickens, the number of lactic acid bacteria, the number of E. coli bacteria and the number of Salmonella bacteria. The data obtained were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Duncan's test. The results of this study indicate that the treatment had a significant effect on the pH value, the number of lactic acid bacteria, the number of E. coli bacteria and the number of Salmonella bacteria. The results showed that the pH value ranged from 5.65 - 6.65 and the number of lactic acid bacteria in this study ranged from 37.50-152.75x104 cfu/g. The number of E. coli bacteria in this study ranged from 1.50-10.00x104 cfu/gr. The number of Salmonella bacteria showed negative results. The conclusion of the study is that the provision of synbiotics from fermented pineapple skin and Indigofera zollingeriana leaves 0.5% in the ration can increase lactic acid bacteria and suppress the growth of E. coli bacteria in the duodenum of broiler chickens. Keywords: Indigofera zollingeriana, bacterial count, pineapple skin, intestinal pH, synbiotics
