PT Bumi Sekundang Enim Energy is a member of the Baramulti group of companies engaged in mining. The working area of PT Bumi Sekundang Enim Energy Pit AB is divided into two parts: Pit AB and Pit C, with current operations focused on Pit AB. The method used is open pit mining. In May 2024, the planned production for overburden stripping activities in Pit AB is 332,829.17 BCM/month, while the actual realization is only 305,040 BCM/month, or about 91.65% of the targeted production plan. This research aims to evaluate the achievement of overburden production, identify constraints affecting production achievement, and assess efforts to improve overburden production. Field observations in Pit AB show that the actual productivity of the Komatsu PC400LC and Hino 500 FM 280JD is 685.12 BCM/hour and 410 BCM/hour, respectively. Factors affecting production achievement include low work efficiency. There are 16 obstacles impacting work efficiency. The effective working time achieved is 465.97 hours/month, with obstacles totaling 278.03 hours/month, leading to low work efficiency. Efforts have been made to minimize avoidable obstacles, such as loading queues, front preparation, and equipment warming. After addressing these avoidable obstacles, the total obstacle time was reduced to 165.04 hours/month. Based on calculations, the actual operating cost for overburden excavation and transportation is Rp8,395,628/hour, resulting in an overburden stripping cost based on actual productivity of Rp20,473/BCM. After evaluating the stripping costs based on ideal productivity, it amounts to Rp11,371/BCM.
