PENGARUH EKSTRAK RIMPANG TEMULAWAK (Curcuma xanthorrhiza) SEBAGAI LARVASIDA TERHADAP LARVA NYAMUK Culex sp. INSTAR III
Mosquito species known as disease vectors are Culex sp. Meanwhile, chemical pesticides can cause resistance and environmental degradation. An environmentally safe alternative is to use plant larvicides. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of temulawak rhizome extract on the mortality of Culex sp. Instar III mosquito larvae, to determine the LC50 value. This study was conducted in October-November 2024 at the Genetics and Biotechnology Laboratory and the Animal Biosystematics Laboratory, Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Sriwijaya University using the Completely Randomized Design (CRD) method. Extraction of temulawak rhizomes was carried out using the maceration method with methanol solvent and direct testing was carried out on Culex sp. Instar III mosquito larvae consisting of 7 treatments, namely (negative control, positive (Abate 0.01%) 0.6%, 0.8%, 1%, 1,2% and 1.4%). Data were analyzed using ANOVA, Duncan's test, and probit analysis to determine LC50. The results showed that the extract of temulawak rhizome as a larvicide had a very significant effect on each concentration used, the results of 24-hour observations showed the highest percentage of mortality at a concentration of 1.4% of 90%. The Lc50 value of temulawak rhizome was 0.64% this indicates that the treatment was effective in achieving 50% mortality.
