Islamic boarding schools are educational institutions that provide adequate and intensive religious education, as well as a conducive environment to instill moral values that can be applied in daily life. By studying religious knowledge intensively, students are better equipped to address future challenges, such as the negative impacts of globalization, which currently lead many young generations astray into issues like juvenile delinquency and promiscuity. Education in Islamic boarding schools is considered one of the best forms of education, as it not only covers formal education but also religious studies that shape individuals into future leaders of excellence by learning in accordance with the guidance of the Quran and Sunnah. The location of Islamic boarding schools is typically built in areas far from urban centers to provide a tranquil and peaceful environment that supports the activities conducted within the boarding school. Islamic architectural approaches are adopted as a form of identity in the design of boarding school buildings, based on the concepts of Hablum Minallah (relationship with Allah), Hablum Minannas (relationship with fellow humans), and Hablum Minal Alam (relationship with nature). Designing Islamic boarding schools includes elements that serve as reminders of the oneness of Allah SWT, fostering a harmonious relationship between humans and their Creator. Additionally, the design aims to establish connections between the boarding school, students, and the surrounding community, with sufficient boundaries and facilities tailored to the needs of the students, supporting their educational process and creating a religious environment that can positively influence society to become individuals with noble character (akhlakul karimah). Furthermore, the layout of Islamic boarding schools maximizes the potential of natural elements on the site, such as natural lighting, ventilation, and the use of green open spaces, while minimizing environmental damage to foster a harmonious relationship with nature.
