HUBUNGAN INTENSITAS PENGGUNAAN MEDIA SOSIAL TIKTOK DENGAN FENOMENA FEAR OF MISSING OUT (FOMO) PADA REMAJA DI SMAN 1 INDRALAYA UTARA
The phenomenon of Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) is a psychological impact commonly experienced by adolescents in the digital era, especially with the rising use of social media platforms like TikTok. This study aims to examine the relationship between TikTok usage intensity and FOMO among 11th-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Indralaya Utara. A correlational quantitative approach was used, with data collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire and respondents selected using purposive sampling. The data were analyzed using a non-parametric correlation test due to the non-normal distribution. The results revealed a positive and significant relationship between the two variables. This indicates that the more frequently adolescents use TikTok, the higher their tendency to experience FOMO. These findings highlight the importance of promoting mindful and responsible social media usage to prevent excessive social anxiety among teenagers. The study also serves as a reminder for schools and parents to be more aware of the psychological impacts of increasing online activity in adolescents.
