This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between self handicapping and achievement motivation in Sriwijaya University students. The hypothesis in this study is that there is a relationship between internal self handicapping and external self handicapping with achievement motivation in Sriwijaya University students. The population of this study was Sriwijaya University students, with a total number of participants of 344 students and 100 students for testing. The sampling technique used was incidental sampling. The measuring instrument used is the self handicapping scale from Clarke and MacCann (2016) which refers to self handicapping factors and the achievement motivation scale refers to aspects of achievement motivation from McClelland (1987).
