This research is based on the need for efficient and environmentally friendly drying equipment that utilizes oil palm shells as an alternative fuel to optimize the drying process. This study aims to test a tray-type dryer that utilizes oil palm shells as fuel. This research was conducted at the Soil and Water Engineering Laboratory, Agricultural Engineering Study Program, Department of Agricultural Technology, Sriwijaya University. The method used in this research is experimental with descriptive data presentation. The research results are presented in tables and graphs, with data collection performed 3 times. The tray-type grain drying system with oil palm shells showed temperature increases during the drying time from 30 minutes to 120 minutes in each component: combustion chamber temperature (56.87°C to 74.10°C), heat exchanger (36.70°C to 46.30°C), plenum temperature remained relatively stable (30.50°C to 34.10°C), drying chamber temperature (30.37°C to 32.94°C), moisture content decreased to the range of 14.2-14.3% at each position, fuel consumption rate with stable FCR values ranging from 0.6-0.7 kg/hour, drying rate of 4.8-5.1%/hour, and drying efficiency reaching 73.09%. The utilization of oil palm shells as fuel in tray-type grain dryers represents an effective, economical, and environmentally friendly solution while adding value to palm oil industry waste. Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh kebutuhan akan alat pengering yang efisien dan ramah lingkungan dengan memanfaatkan cangkang kelapa sawit sebagai bahan bakar alternatif untuk mengoptimalkan proses pengeringan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji alat pengering tipe bak yang memanfaatkan cangkang kelapa sawit sebagai bahan bakar. Penelitian ini telah dilakukan di Laboratorium Mesin Teknik Tanah Air, Program Studi Teknik Pertanian, Jurusan Teknologi Pertanian, Universitas Sriwijaya. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah ekperimental dan penyajian data secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian disajikan dalam bentuk tabel dan grafik, dengan pengambilan data sebanyak 3 kali pengulangan. Sistem pengering gabah tipe bak dengan cangkang kelapa sawit menunjukkan hasil peningkatan suhu pada waktu pengeringan 30 menit sampai 120 menit setiap titik pengukuran, yakni suhu ruang bakar (56,87oC menjadi 74,10oC), HE (36,70oC menjadi 46,30oC), suhu plenum relatif stabil (30,50oC menjadi 34,10oC), suhu ruang pengeringan (30,37oC menjadi 32,94oC), kadar air menurun mencapai kisaran 14,2 - 14,3 % pada laju konsumsi bahan bakar dengan nilai FCR yang stabil berkisar 0,6-0,7 kg/jam, laju pengeringan sebesar 4,8 - 5,1 %/jam, efisiensi pengeringan mencapai 73,09%. Pemanfaatan cangkang kelapa sawit sebagai bahan bakar pada pengering gabah tipe bak merupakan solusi yang efektif, ekonomis, dan ramah lingkungan serta memberikan nilai tambah pada limbah industri sawit.
