PENGARUH BODY IMAGE TERHADAP PERILAKU DIET PADA MAHASISWI UNIVERSITAS SRIWIJAYA
Misunderstanding of thin and slender body image which is considered as the ideal body shape is still common among female students, where to get the ideal body shape diet behavior is used as one way. This study aims to determine the effect of body image on dietary behavior in Sriwijaya University students. The research is quantitative with a cross sectional approach. The sampling technique used was the cluster sampling technique with 115 respondents who met the inclusion criteria. Data were processed and analyzed using univariate analysis, bivariate analysis using chi square test and multivariate analysis using logistic regression test of risk factor model. The results showed that as many as 53% of female students did diet behavior that was not in accordance with the reason for doing the diet the most, namely to have an attractive appearance as much as 32.2%. Bivariate analysis showed that there was a relationship between body image and dietary behavior in female students, namely 0.013 < 0.05. Other variables related to dietary behavior include the influence of mass media (0.018), the influence of peers (0.001), the influence of family (0.038), and the influence of idol figures (0.043). While the variables of body mass index (0.179), self-confidence (0.594), and knowledge of diet (1,000) did not have a significant relationship to dietary behavior in female students.
