PERENCANAAN DAN PERANCANGAN SENIOR LIVING DENGAN PENDEKATAN ARSITEKTUR PERILAKU DI KOTA PALEMBANG
The BPS data for South Sumatra in 2022 indicates that nearly 9.51% or 822,910 of its population are elderly. This has the potential to decrease productivity and increase dependency on the working-age population. The physical and mental decline of the elderly results in decreased productivity and dependency on the working-age population. The limitations in time, skills, and family abilities in caring for the elderly create a need for facilities and infrastructure that support them to remain productive, independent, and beneficial. Palembang City has provided facilities for the elderly such as nursing homes and elderly care centers, but the physical structures lack consideration for the safety and comfort of the elderly. Therefore, Senior Living is designed as an elderly-friendly environment using a behavior-based architecture approach, considering their limitations. This design divides the area into public and private building masses to meet the needs and provide peace for the elderly, with spatial layout, accessibility, and building aesthetics tailored to the behavior of the elderly. It is hoped that this environment will support health, comfort, healthy social interaction, and the well-being of the elderly.
