PENGARUH PENAMBAHAN NPN RUMINOFRASS PADA SILASE RUMPUT PAKCHONG (PENNISETUM PURPUREUM CV THAILAND) TERHADAP KARAKTERISTIK FERMENTASI RUMEN SECARA IN VITRO
The livestock subsector contributes 14.5% of greenhouse gas emissions, including methane and carbon dioxide, either directly from feed production activities or indirectly from rumen fermentation. The purpose of this study was to study the addition of N-PN Ruminofrass to Pakchong Grass silage on partial volatile fatty acid (VFA), N-Amonia (N-NH3) and Methane (Ch4) in vitro. This research was conducted from October to November 2024 at the Animal Nutrition and Food Laboratory, Animal Husbandry Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Agricultural Environmental Research Center (Balingtan) Jaken, Central Java. This study used a complete randomized design (CRD) method with 4 treatments and 5 replications of treatments consisting of P0: Pakchong grass (control), P1: Pakchong grass silage, P2: Pakchong grass and 5% NPN Ruminofrass, P3: Pakchong Grass Silage and NPN Ruminofrass 5%. The parameters observed were Partial VFA concentration (mM), acetate and propionate ratio, methane calculation (ppm), and N-Ammonia (mM) in Vitro. The results showed that the NPN Ruminofrass treatment had a significant effect on the parameters of Partial VFA, Acetate and Propionate Ratio and Methane, but had no significant effect on the N-Ammonia parameter. Based on this, it can be concluded that the treatment with the addition of NPN Ruminofrass is able to increase the concentration of Partial VFA, reduce the concentration of Methane. keywords: Fermentation, Ruminofrass, Pakchong Grass, NPN, Rumen, In Vitro
