FAKTOR-FAKTOR YANG MEMPENGARUHI GEJALA DERMATITIS KONTAK PADA PEKERJA BENGKEL MOTOR DI KECAMATAN LAHAT
Contact dermatitis is a skin disease that often occurs in workshop workers caused by direct contact with chemicals such as battery water, lubricants oil, gasoline, and coolant. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that influence the symptoms of contact dermatitis in motorcycle workshop workers in the Lahat District. This study applied quantitative methods with a cross-sectional study design. The question to assess contact dermatitis was adapted from the Nordic Occupational Skin Questionnaire 2002. The sample size was 108 respondents, selected using a purposive sampling technique. The data method analysis by using chi-square bivariate analysis, and multiple logistic regression multivariate analysis. The results of the chi-square suggested that there were significant relationship between contact dermatitis symptoms and knowledge (p-value = 0.019), attitude (p-value = 0.004), frequency of contact (p-value = 0.000), and hand washing habits (p-value = 0.000) in motorcycle workshop workers. Based on the results of the multiple logistic tests, the most dominant variable correlated to the presence of contact dermatitis symptoms was the habit of washing hands (p-value 0.000; PR 18.599; 95% CI 4.766 - 72.578). It can be concluded that the symptoms of contact dermatitis are caused by the most dominant factor, namely hand washing habits. Recommendation from this study, workshop workers should familiarize themselves with washing hands using soap, running water, performing the correct hand-washing steps, and drying hands using a clean cloth.
