HUBUNGAN ASUPAN NATRIUM DAN ASUPAN KALIUM DENGAN STATUS HIDRASI REMAJA SMP NEGERI 1 INDRALAYA KABUPATEN OGAN ILIR
Adolescence is a nutritionally vulnerable life phase, and one of the problems that adolescents often experience is dehydration. Various factors can affect the hydration status of adolescents, including poor eating habits related to excessive sodium intake and low potassium intake. This study aims to determine the relationship between sodium intake and potassium intake with hydration status of adolescents. This type of research is observational analytic using a cross sectional design. This research is located in SMP Negeri 1 Indralaya Ogan Ilir Regency. The sample used in this study are 98 students aged 12-15 years and selected by proportionate random sampling technique. The data collected were processed with statistical tests then performed with univariate and bivariate analysis with the Chi-Square and Fisher Exact test. Intake of sodium and potassium data were collected by food recall 3 x 24 hours, and hydration status data was collected through urine self examination (PURI). The results showed that 61,2% of adolescents had high sodium intake meanwhile 91,8% of adolescents had low potassium intake and 32,7% of adolescents with severe dehydration. In addition, based on the type or ingredients of food, it is known that besides salt, instant noodles are the highest contributor to adolescents’ sodium intake, while chicken and packaged milk are the contributor to adolescents’ potassium intake.
