HUBUNGAN PENGETAHUAN DAN SIKAP DENGAN PRAKTIK HIGIENE SANITASI PADA PENJAMAH MAKANAN DI KANTIN UNIVERSITAS SRIWIJAYA KAMPUS INDRALAYA
Food handler sanitary hygiene is an action shown by food handlers to maintain and protect personal hygiene, as well as control risk factors, both from foodstuffs, people, and equipment used so as not to cause contamination of food, so that it is safe for consumption. Inadequate food sanitation hygiene can lead to foodborne illness and poisoning. The general purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between knowledge and attitudes with sanitary hygiene practices in food handlers in the canteen of Sriwijaya University, Indralaya Campus. Quantitative research design with cross sectional design. Univariate and bivariate data processing with continuity correction tests. The sample amounted to 35 people using cluster random sampling technique. The results of the bivariate analysis stated that there was no significant relationship between knowledge and sanitary hygiene practices of food handlers with a p-value of 0.260 and there was a significant relationship between attitudes and sanitary hygiene practices of food handlers with a p-value of 0.003. In conclusion, the knowledge and attitude of food handlers in the canteen of Sriwijaya University, Indralaya Campus is good, while the sanitary hygiene practices of food handlers are still lacking. Suggestions in an effort to improve good sanitation hygiene behavior are expected to further increase the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as aprons, head covers, mouth masks, and plastic gloves.
