HUBUNGAN ANTARA GERAKAN BERULANG DENGAN KELUHAN CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME PADA PEKERJA LAUNDRY BAGIAN PENYETRIKAAN DI KECAMATAN ILIR BARAT I KOTA PALEMBANG
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome including one of the musculoskeletal disorders which occurs in the hands and wrists due to compression of the median nerve which causes joint pain. CTS can be experienced by workers who use hand strength to do their work. Worker laundry The ironing part uses the hands to grip the iron with repetitive motion. This study aimed to analyze repetitive motion, age, nutritional status, disease history, work period, length of work, microclimate, and workload with CTS complaints. This research uses a design cross-sectional with a sample of 95 people. Data analysis was carried out univariate, bivariate, and multivariate using tests chi-square and Fisher exact. Analysis of CTS complaints with the BCTQ questionnaire and Phalen test on workers’ laundry in the ironing section experienced CTS complaints (73.7%) and did not experience CTS complaints (26.3%). Bivariate results show a relationship between repetitive motion, age, nutritional status, and length of work. There is no relationship between disease history, working period, microclimate, and workload. And in the multivariate analysis, there was a significant relationship between repetitive motion and CTS complaints after being controlled by the variables of disease history, age, length of work, workload, microclimate, length of service, and nutritional status. Worker's laundry in the ironing department in Ilir Barat I District, Palembang City can prevent and relieve CTS complaints by stretching, massage, physical exercise, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
