PENGARUH VARIASI HOLDING TIME NORMALIZING TERHADAP LAJU KOROSI PADA BAJA KARBON ST 42 MENGGUNAKAN INHIBITOR EKSTRAK KULIT KENTANG
This research aims to determine the effect of various normalizing holding times on the corrosion rate of carbon steel ST 42 using an inhibitor extracted from potato peel. In this study, specimens were subjected to normalizing holding time, treated with an inhibitor, and then immersed in a corrosive NaCl solution. Subsequently, each specimen underwent normalizing heat treatment with holding time variations of 1 minute, 2 minutes, 3 minutes, and 4 minutes, while one specimen did not undergo any normalizing treatment. After reaching normal temperature, the specimens were treated with an inhibitor by immersion for 30 minutes. After ten days of immersion in the corrosive NaCl solution, the highest corrosion rate occurred in specimen 5, which did not undergo any treatment, with a corrosion rate of 0.00256367122322802 mpy. The lowest corrosion rate was observed in specimen 4, treated with normalizing holding time of 4 minutes, with a corrosion rate of 0.0006625514035667 mpy. This study indicates that longer the normalizing holding time, the lower the resulting corrosion rate.
