PENGARUH INHIBITOR EKSTRAK DAUN JAMBU BIJI (PSIDIUM GUAJAVA L.) PADA PROSES QUENCHING TERHADAP LAJU KOROSI PADA BAJA ST37 DENGAN LINGKUNGAN ASAM ASETAT
This research aims to see the effect of adding inhibitors from guava leaf extract (Psidium guajava L.) in the quenching process on the corrosion rate of ST37 steel in an acetic acid environment. This research is a pure experiment. This research stage includes preparing tools and materials, making inhibitors, quenching, applying inhibitors, and calculating the corrosion rate. The results of this research show that specimen 1 which was not given the inhibitor experienced the most significant weight loss, namely 0.23, with a corrosion rate of 0.0069094947 mpy. Specimen 2, which was treated with inhibitor at a concentration of 3%, experienced a weight loss of 0.17, with a corrosion rate of 0.0050827757 mpy. Specimen 3, which was treated with inhibitor at a concentration of 6%, experienced a weight loss of 0.15, with a corrosion rate of 0.0044706544 mpy. Specimen 4, which was treated with inhibitor at a concentration of 9%, experienced a weight loss of 0.12, with a corrosion rate of 0.0035878417 mpy. Finally, specimen 5, which was given inhibitor with a concentration of 12%, experienced a weight loss of 0.11, with a corrosion rate of 0.0032853892 mpy. So it is known that guava leaf extract has the effect of inhibiting the rate of corrosion.
