ASUHAN KEPERAWATAN PADA PASIEN CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE (CKD) DENGAN PEMBERIAN AROMATERAPI LAVENDER PADA MASALAH KEPERAWATAN GANGGUAN POLA TIDUR DI RSUP DR. MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG
Background: Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is an incurable disease, requiring long term therapy that can cause various issues, one of which is sleep pattern disturbances. A non-pharmacological therapy that can be provided to address sleep pattern disturbances is the use of lavender aromatherapy. Purpose: To describe the implementation of nursing care for CKD patients and to provide lavender aromatherapy to address sleep pattern disorder issues. Method: A case study involving 3 CKD patients in the Inpatient Room of RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. Results: The assessment of the three patients revealed complaints such as pain, difficulty sleeping, frequent awakenings at night, sleeping only 4-5 hours per night leading patients to feel inadequate rest time, weakness, anxiety, decreased hemoglobin levels, and increased blood pressure. Four actual nursing diagnoses were identified with issues of acute pain, ineffective peripheral perfusion, activity intolerance, sleep pattern disturbance, and one risk nursing diagnosis, which is risk of infection. Discussion: The main interventions provided included pain management, circulation care, energy management, support for rest and sleep, and infection prevention, along with supportive interventions such as lavender aromatherapy. Lavender aromatherapy was administered for about 15-30minutes each day for 3 days. Lavender aromatherapy has a relaxing and soothing effect, making it effective in aiding the sleep process. The implications of nursing in the administration of lavender aromatherapy after being given for 3 days can address sleep pattern disorders, as shown by the measurements obtained through the PSQI (Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index) questionnaire, with a score of 11 (poor sleep quality) decreasing to a score of 6 for Ms. D and Mr. S, and a score of 7 for Ms. S (fair sleep quality). Conclusion: After providing nursing care for 3 days, the nursing problem can be resolved.
