Low self-esteem in individuals is caused by unpleasant emotional reactions resulting from negative self-perception or self-assessment, particularly among adolescents undergoing legal processes. This condition can lead to feelings of inferiority or lack of confidence, difficulty in social interactions, feelings of alienation, and a tendency to withdraw. One intervention used to improve self-esteem is positive affirmation therapy. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of positive affirmation therapy on self-esteem levels in adolescents at the Class I Special Child Development Institution in Palembang. This study was a quantitative pre-experimental study using a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The sample consisted of 29 respondents selected using probability random sampling with a stratified random sampling technique. Each respondent underwent therapy three consecutive times, with a duration of 10-15 minutes per session. Self-esteem levels were measured using the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted using the Marginal Homogeneity test with an interpretation value of (α = 0.05). The study results showed a p-value = 0.001 (p-value < 0.05), indicating that positive affirmation therapy is effective in improving the self-esteem of Juvenile inmates. Based on these findings, this therapy can be applied to Juvenile as a means of enhancing their self-esteem.
