STUDENTS’ PERCEPTIONS ON ENGLISH SHORT STORY WRITING OF ENGLISH EDUCATION STUDY PROGRAM SRIWIJAYA UNIVERSITY
Short story is a type of story that can be read in a short amount of time, and it typically has a simple, straightforward plot with a few characters. However, short story also can be used as a tool to learning English. Writing short stories is one of activity in writing skills that also need some skills even though short stories are sometimes just fictional writing. The objective of this study is to find out the sixth semester of English Education Study Program students’ perceptions on English short story writing at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Sriwijaya University. The data collected by using qualitative methods with an interview as an instrument. The researcher interviewed 13 respondents from specifics class using 15 question about the perception on short story writing to get data. The result of the study is showed that respondents have a positive perception towards English short story writing in learning English. Keywords: Students’ Perception, Writing, Short Story, English
