EFEKTIVITAS ANTIBAKTERI EKSTRAK DAUN TEH HIJAU (CAMELLIA SINENSIS. L) PAGAR ALAM TERHADAP BAKTERI STREPTOCOCCUS MUTANS
Background: Dental caries remains a prevalent oral health issue in Indonesia, with Streptococcus mutans identified as the main causative agent. While 0.2% chlorhexidine is effective, its side effects highlight the need for natural alternatives. Green tea (Camellia sinensis. L) contains antibacterial compounds like catechins and flavonoids. Objective: To evaluate the antibacterial effectiveness of green tea leaf extract from Pagar Alam against Streptococcus mutans. Methods: This in vitro true experimental study used a post-test only control group design with the disk diffusion method. Samples consisted of green tea extract at concentrations of 5%, 15%, and 25%, and a 0.2% chlorhexidine control. Inhibition zones were measured with a caliper and analyzed using One Way ANOVA and Post Hoc LSD tests. Results: The average inhibition zone diameters were 5.900 mm (5%), 7.908 mm (15%), and 10.033 mm (25%). The positive control showed 16.700 mm. Significant differences were observed among all groups (p
