South Ogan Komering Ulu Regency, located in South Sumatra Province, is a highland area mostly made up of hills and has a wet tropical climate, with some mountainous areas that have relatively low temperatures. This study aims to map landslide hazard potential to identify high-risk areas and support more targeted mitigation efforts. The mapping was done using Geographic Information System (GIS) with five main parameters: rainfall, slope steepness, rock type, soil type, and land cover. The data were processed using ArcGIS 10.8 software to produce a hazard zonation map divided into three classes: low, medium, and high. The overlay results show that medium to high hazard zones are dominant, and validation using 2024 landslide data confirms the accuracy of the scoring and overlay methods used. Although 42.71% of the area in South Ogan Komering Ulu consists of flat slopes, landslides mostly occurred on moderately steep to very steep slopes (≥15%), triggered by high rainfall with an intensity of 2,500 to 3,000 mm per year, covering 91.61% of the region. The area is also dominated by sedimentary rocks (66.97%), Cambisol soil (45.87%), and land cover in the form of plantations or irrigated rice fields (74.99%), all of which contribute to the landslide hazard potential. The mapping results are proven to be accurate, as most landslides in 2024 happened in high hazard zones, especially on steep slopes. High rainfall is the main factor causing landslides, as seen in several affected villages such as Buay Rawan, Muaradua Kisam, South Warkuk Ranau, Beringin Island, Mekakau Ilir.
