ESTIMASI KARBON TERSIMPAN ATAS PERMUKAAN DI HUTAN MANGROVE KAWASAN PULAU ALANGAN TIKUS PROVINSI SUMATERA SELATAN

Climate change on earth occurs due to increased greenhouse gas emissions, especially carbon dioxide (CO2), thereby increasing global temperatures that can disrupt ecosystems. The existence of mangrove forests plays a role in reducing CO2 levels in the air so as to reduce CO2 levels in the atmosphere. This study aims to calculate the total value of upper surface biomass, carbon stocks, and carbon dioxide uptake in mangrove forest areas on Alangan Tikus Island, Sungsang II Village, Banyuasin II District, Banyuasin Regency. Determination of observation stations using Purposive Sampling method. Sampling is done by destructive sampling method and Line Transect method. Measured mangrove stem circumference of each plot with a pitameter at a height of 1.3 m from the uppermost root. Converted to stem diameter, with a diameter range ≥ 5 cm. Counted and recorded the species and number of individuals of each species present in the plot along the transect line. Calculated and recorded the environmental parameters of each observation station using the tools that have been prepared. The results of the study showed that mangroves on Alangan Rat Island have a stored biomass value of 122.21 tons/ha, a carbon stock value of 57.58 tons/ha and a carbon sequestration value of 211.307 tons CO2/ha.
