Citizen journalism provides a platform for the public to not only consume news but also produce information through online media. Sripoku.com and Infosumsel.id are online media platforms that provide opportunities for the public to participate in the production and dissemination of information. The perception that news produced by citizen journalism is not entirely credible due to a lack of understanding of journalistic principles and ethics poses a significant challenge. This study aims to analyze the editorial policies of both media in their citizen journalism sections using Shoemaker's gatekeeping theory, which consists of five levels: individual, media routines, organizational, extra-media, and ideological factors. This research employs a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews with gatekeepers from both media outlets. The findings indicate that Sripoku.com emphasizes the principles of independence and local identity by selecting relevant and non-provocative content. Meanwhile, Infosumsel.id adopts the principle of "cautious trust," prioritizing content credibility and maintaining a more consistent volume of published news. A fundamental difference between the two media lies at the extra-media level, particularly in the context of online media trends. This study demonstrates that editorial policies based on gatekeeping theory can strengthen the credibility and relevance of citizen journalism in the digital era.
