STUDI PEMBUATAN KOMPOSIT HA/SiO2 BERPORI MENGGUNAKAN SPACE HOLDER KACANG HIJAU SEBAGAI MATERIAL ADSORPSI CO2
Industrial developments in Indonesia have encouraged increased use of ceramic filters to capture carbon dioxide (CO2). However, the availability of high-quality filters remains a challenge. This research aims to develop a porous filter from Hydroxyapatite/SiO2 composite. The composite is strengthened with SiO2 at a concentration of 15-25% and uses processed green bean powder as a space holder. The manufacturing process begins by mixing hydroxyapatite powder, SiO2 powder and green bean powder using a ball mill with a rotation speed of 225 rpm for 3 hours. Next, the mixture is molded using a uniaxial pressure compaction machine. The specimens were then sintered at 900°C with a holding time of 120 minutes. Density testing was carried out using the Archimedes method, producing the highest density of 1,500 g/cm3 with a porosity of 50.28% on the HA/SiO2 test object with 75% HA. X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) analysis shows that the dominant phases are hydroxyapatite (HA) and SiO2. Observation of the microstructure using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) shows the presence of pores with sizes ranging from 2.3 µm to 22.39 µm with the pores formed interconnected. Carbon capture testing showed a reduction in CO2 concentration of 44.77% after passing through the filter from the initial concentration. This research contributes to the development of porous solid filters with potential industrial applications utilizing environmentally friendly materials.
