Pipe leaks are one of the obstacles in the oil exploration and production process, where this is a company operational activity that has a negative impact on the environment and communities around the leak area. To overcome this pipe leak problem, PT Pertamina EP Limau Field implemented the regulations of the Governor of South Sumatra No. 40 of 2017 which regulates compensation mechanisms for affected parties. However, with changing conditions on the ground becoming increasingly complex due to inflation, increasing market demand and climate change, it is important to assess the extent to which these policies are adaptive to current environmental challenges. This research is a descriptive type of research using qualitative research methods. In this research, researchers used the Atlas.ti tool to assist in analyzing data. The results of this research show that the implementation process of South Sumatra Governor Regulation No. 40 of 2017 is less effective. This can be seen from feedback from the public who were dissatisfied with the nominal compensation given when compared to the value of the losses they experienced. However, this policy has helped residents deal with the crisis due to the impact of pipe leaks and there are also some residents who do not mind the nominal compensation offered.
